Blue catfish good on cut bait and shad below the dam, docks, main lake, and river channel. Crappie good on hair jigs, jigs, and minnows around brush structure and docks. Kaw: November 3. Elevation is 2 ft. above normal and stable, water temperature 62°F and stained. Konawa: November 2. Elevation is normal and stable, water temperature 68°F and clear. McGee Creek: October 31. Elevation is 2 ft. below normal and falling, water temperature 67°F and stained. Sardis: October 31. Elevation is normal and stable, water temperature 70°F and stained. (USACE Lake Level) Largemouth bass good on crankbaits, lipless baits, plastic baits, and spinnerbaits around brush structure, channels, points, shorelines, and standing timber. Blue, channel, and flathead catfish good on cut bait, shad, sunfish, and worms around brush structure, main lake, points, and standing timber. Crappie good on jigs and minnows around brush structure. Texoma: November 2. Elevation is normal and stable, water temperature 72°F and clear. (USACE Lake Level) Striped bass good on live shad around channels, flats, and points. Blue, channel, and flathead catfish good on dough bait, live shad, punch bait, and stinkbait below the dam, coves, docks, points, and river mouth. Crappie fair on grubs, hair jigs, jigs, minnows, and nymphs around brush structure, coves, docks, and standing timber. Comments: Fishing this week on the lake has been pretty good. Striper are starting to get a lot better. They’re being caught on live shad around ledges and points and in the flats. Catfish are good on cut bait around the mouth of the river and ledges or channels. Crappie are good on jigs around brush piles near docks. Ada “Peggy” Fay (Katuin) Naylor obituary
Ada “Peggy” Fay (Katuin) Naylor of Heavener was born May 25, 1943 in Mauston, Wisconsin to Dick and Ida Josephine (Harris) Katuin. She passed away Oct. 31, 2025 in Heavener at the age of 82.
Memorial service to celebrate Peggy’s life will be 2 p.m., Saturday, November 8, 2025 at the Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel in Heavener with Brother John Paul McAlester officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener, Oklahoma.
Peggy, a cherished member of the community for many years, was the dedicated cafeteria director at the Poteau Hospital. She was a graduate of Webb High School in Reedsburg, Wisconsin. Peggy loved playing board games, doing puzzles with her family, and reading.
She was a member of the Heavener Book Club. Peggy treasured the moments spent in the company of her family and loved ones. She enjoyed being outdoors and going camping. Her absence will be profoundly felt by all who knew her.
Surviving family members are one daughter, Sherry Pollard; one son, Craig Allan Kintz; one sister, Marcella Ruth Katuin; her grandchildren Brett Mitts, Kaitlyn Kintz, Rebecca Strode, Amanda Stallings, Tegan Louks, Bridget Yandell, Michael Owens and Victoria Owens; her great-grandchildren Avery, Quinn, Kylee, Kadence, McKenna, Jon Mika, Arabela, Brylie, Kolton, Terquois, Eyce, Sophilla, Brenna, Mason and Kai’Dyn; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, an abundant number of loved ones, and friends.

Helen Haynes
Graveside services for Helen Haynes, age 81, of Talihina were Wednesday at the Talihina Cemetery with Reverend Phil McGehee officiating. Services were under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
She was born July 5, 1944 in Talihina to Mary (Green) Hickman and Sam Hickman. She passed away Oct. 30, 2025, in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Survivors are her husband of 63 years, Charles Haynes; sons Danny Ray Haynes, Bobby Morrison and wife Tanya Gappmayer-Morrison, Barb Morrison and wife Ashley; daughters Tiajuanna White, and Tina Darlene Silva and husband Gabe; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Carolyn Sue (Fox) Jones
Carolyn Sue (Fox) Jones of Heavener was born Oct. 17, 1945 at home in Stapp to Emery “Pad” and Christeen (Permenter) Fox and went home to be with the Lord on Oct. 31, 2025 at her home in Heavener at the age of 80.
Funeral service was 2 p.m. Monday at the Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel in Heavener with Brother Joey Bottoms officiating. Burial followed in the Reichert Cemetery, under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener.
Carolyn was a long-time resident of the area. She married William “Bill” Jones in October of 1962. Carolyn was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Carolyn will be deeply missed by who knew and loved her.
Surivors are two granddaughters Sakari and Gracie Jones of Germany; two sisters Ladonna Steelman and Connie Smith, both of Heavener; several nieces, nephews, other loved ones, and friends whom loved her very much.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Pad and Christeen Fox; her husband, Bill Jones; both sons, Kenneth and Keith Jones; six brothers; and two sisters.
Pallbearers are Randall Fox, Trevor Fox, Brandon Holley, Eric Blaylock, Emery Smith, and Cody Harvell.

Gene Rodney “Rod” Fulsom obituary
Gene Rodney “Rod” Fulsom of Heavener (formerly of Houston, Texas) was born Feb. 16, 1931 in Weldon, Texas to Henry Sye and Zora Louise (Adams) Fulsom and passed away Oct. 31, 2025 at his home in Heavener at the age of 94.
Rod’s graveside service was Wednesday at the Weldon Cemetery in Weldon, Texas with Pastor Tim Ramsey officiating. Burial followed with military honors under the direction of Allee Calloway Funeral Home in Crockett, Texas and Dowden-Roberts Funeral & Cremation Center of Poteau.
Surivors are one son Michael Rodney Fulsom and wife Paula of Trinity, Texas; one daughter Debbie (Fulsom) Lambert and husband Reagan of Horseshoe Bay, Texas; five grandchildren Kadey (Fulsom) Cochran and husband Jason of Liberty Hill, Texas, Lissie (Fulsom) Hagerman of Stamford, Connecticut, Silas Fulsom and wife April of Trinity, Texas, Allison (Lambert) Jackson and husband Jacob of Tenino, Washington, Zach Lambert and wife Amy of Austin, Texas; eight great-grandchildren
Madison, Sean, and Molly Cochran, Trintin, Deklan, and Lilly Fulsom, Judah and Major Lambert; numerous nieces, other relatives, and friends.
Rod was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of 69 years, Barbara (Jones) Fulsom; and a brother, Jack Fulsom.
Rod was born and raised in Texas. He served during the Korea War in the United States Air Force from Dec. 29, 1950 to Dec. 2, 1954. Rod married the love of his life, Barbara June Jones on April 21, 1951. After the service, he had a long career as an executive at Permian Oil Company, where he traveled all throughout the United States.
After retirement, he and Barbara moved to Oklahoma where they spent the next 35 years, raising cattle, attending the Alamo trail ride and riding horses (and mules) all over southeastern Oklahoma. He served as President on the Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center Hospital Board for 14 years and installed the rural water system in Haw Creek. He lived his life on his own terms and died peacefully at his home.

Barbara Ellen Young
Barbara Ellen Young of Howe was born Jan. 11, 1951 to Jo Ellen (Doherty) and Clifford Queen at the Port Hueneme Army Base in Port Hueneme, California and passed away Oct. 30, 2025 in Fort Smith, Arkansas at the age of 74.
Graveside service was Tuesday at Lovings Cemetery in the Lovings Community with Reverend Tim Trent officiating. Burial followed under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener.
Everyone who knew her and the ones that didn’t admired her yard for the love of her flowers. Barbara was always in her yard working on those flower beds. She loved her kids, grandkids, and greats and especially her dogs, Amos and Mitzi. Barbara loved all of her family and cherished them all. She will be missed by all and never forgotten.
Barbara was welcomed to Heaven by her parents and a brother, Sonny Queen.
She leaves behind her longtime companion, Tunie Hall, of the home; her son James “Jimmy” Young and wife Kelly Jo of Wister; her daughter Laranda “Randa” Cagle and husband Bill of Fort Smith, Arkansas; her sister, Jody Queen, of Howe; her four grandkids Alexander “Tray” Ragland of Wister, Karlie Young of Wister, Korbin Young of Wister and Cody Cagle of Fort Smith, Arkansas; her two great-granddaughters Bonnie Ragland and one on the way, Charlie Ragland; her two nephews Justin Waits and Richard Lott of Howe, both of Howe; one niece, Ruby Lott of Howe; numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.

Paul Pitsco
Funeral services for Paul Staton Pitsco, 74, of Pocola were Tuesday at Evans and Miller Chapel of Memories in Pocola with Kane Riggs officiating. Burial followed at Macedonia Cemetery in Pocola, under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home of Spiro.
Paul was born Aug. 20, 1951, in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Geneva (Lindsey) Pitsco and Paul Staton Pitsco, Sr., and passed away Oct. 30, 2025 in Howe.
He was a hard worker who enjoyed cutting firewood, working in the garden, and tending to his cows. Paul found joy in staying busy and was known for his generous spirit and dedication to helping others. He was involved with 633 Recovery and was a proud supporter of their mission.
Survivors include his sons Shawn Pitsco and wife Candy, and Shilow Pitsco; grandchildren Tristan Pitsco and Trenton Pitsco; sister, Debbie and husband Randy Riggs; along with numerous other relatives and loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Geneva and Paul Staton Pitsco, Sr.

Jerry David Roberts
Jerry David Roberts of Heavener was born March 3, 1955 in Cameron to Willie Edward and Vera Madge (Godwin) Roberts and passed away Oct. 28, 2025 in Little Rock, Arkansas at the age of 70.
No services are scheduled at this time. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener.
Jerry was a longtime resident of the area, was a graduate of Howe High School, and a carpenter. Jerry enjoyed spending time outdoors and with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Survivors are his companion, Donna Ingram, of the home; a sister, Nita Day, of Red Bluff, California; a brother, John Roberts, of Heavener; a niece, Jeannie M. Garton, of Red Bluff, California; numerous other loved ones and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Vera Roberts; six brothers Leroy Roberts, James Edward Roberts, Ned Weldon Roberts, Bob Edward Roberts, Delbert Leon Roberts, and Melvin Ray Roberts; and two sisters, Ruthie May Menke and Jewel Leona Hail.
